MGTS – The Good Deed charity event

Good Deed is a unique charity effort that aims to unite two categories of Moscow residents: those who have digital devices in working condition that they do not use and socially disadvantaged citizens who would like to use modern technology in their daily lives, but do not have the means to buy new equipment. What makes the project special is the effective interaction of private business, Moscow city officials and the general public. The organizers of Good Deed were MGTS, the Moscow Department of Information Technology and Moscow Department of Labor and Social Protection, with the support of the DaruDar (Gift-to-Gift) Internet community.

Good Deed was launched in late 2014. The purpose of the project is to provide low-income Moscow residents (the disabled, pensioners and large families) with high-tech means of communication and socialization – that is, modern digital equipment. People who need equipment make their need known to their local social services center, which publishes the needs of its clients on the DaruDar online sharing site. MGTS has organized a hot line and offline collection points for used equipment in working condition donated by those who want to help and it publishes information about the campaign on electronic invoices for telecommunications services and at its sales and service offices. In 10 months in 2015, Muscovites donated more than 300 digital devices.

"Gazprom Neft" — "Hometowns" social investment program

“Hometowns” is a comprehensive program of social investments by Gazprom Neft, the purpose of which is to improve quality of life in the 23 regions where the company operates, improving access for inhabitants to a high quality urban environment, education, culture and sport.

The program includes the "Cultural code" (cultural events in small towns), "Creativity in the regions" (jointly with the Leontief Center, Smolny College, and the British charity Calvert; development in the regions of the creative industries, which can be the impetus for socio-economic development of these territories), "Preserving traditions" (realizing the potential of people in the North, integrating them into modernity and the economy while preserving the culture and customs of their ancestors), "Cities for People" (beautifying the urban environment), "New Horizons" (providing a ‘head-start’ for children from the regions), "Victory Nursery" (regional sports schools).

Among the most notable events in the 2015 program are the XIII International "Spirit of Fire" film festival in Khanty-Mansiysk, “Reindeer Herder’s Day”, which is the traditional national holiday for indigenous people from the north where the best reindeer racers were awarded “Buran” snowmobiles, and “Mathematical progression”, a project that supports gifted children from the regions.

"Moscow Heliport" — the search and rescue team "Angel"

The Angel search-and-rescue team was created in 2015 based out of the Moscow Heliport helicopter center. This voluntary non-profit organization is engaged in the search for missing people with the help of helicopters. Air support is essential in cases when a search is conducted over a large area. A single helicopter crew can replace dozens of volunteers.

Angel cooperates with the country's leading search services: Liza Alert, the Russian Red Cross, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Private pilots (the voluntary participants in the special Angel squad) this year helped to find 42 men, 51 women and 9 children

X5 Group — "Candy Compassion” action

The Candy Compassion charity program was launched on June 1, 2014 and continued through this year. Candy Compassion is an X5 private label brand and its ingredients do not include artificial colorings that are unhealthy for children — black carrot juice is used instead of beta-carotene.

In all stores of the retail networks "Perekrestok," "Pyaterochka" and "Karousel," customers can buy candy costing 15 rubles, 5 rubles of which is transferred to the surgery ward of the "Life Line" Foundation. This fund was created by Alfa Group and X5 Retail Group is a member of its Board of Trustees.

Since the beginning of the program, X5’s retail networks have sold more than 1 million "Candy Compassion" sweets and donated more than 6 million rubles for high-tech operations for 17 seriously ill children.

Philip Morris International - financial support and increasing computer literacy of the elderly and people with disabilities ("Status: Online")

The charitable program Status:Online is being run in Russia by the CAF Fund for the Support and Development of Philanthropy, together and with the support of OJSC "Philip Morris Sales and Marketing." The objective of the program is to help the elderly and disabled to adapt socially and digitally, to improve their quality of life, and to help those who are willing to find employment.

Status:Online was launched in 2013 with three pilot projects and by the start of 2015 nearly 6,000 people had passed through its computer literacy training. The youngest student was 18 years old and the oldest 93 years old. Participants get to know one another and they develop areas of mutual interest with their children and grandchildren. They learn how to use social networks, Microsoft Word, Skype, search for useful information on the Internet, work with public service portals, write emails, make purchases, pay utility bills, make appointments to see a doctor online, remotely communicate with family and friends, and make new friends and acquaintances. Many graduates' familiarity with the computer helped them to keep their job or find a new one.

This year, Status:Online is already taking place in 11 regions: Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Tomsk, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Kemerovo and Mordovia. In all regions, a mandatory part of the program involves meeting with centers of employment and vocational training, with a focus on helping the elderly and people with disabilities find work. Some new features of the third stage include participation in the program by visually impaired people, as well as seminars on the possibilities of using typhlo-information technology (hardware and software for the blind and visually impaired) and meetings with the representatives of organizations that provide services to the public in electronic form.

Philip Morris International continues to provide traditional support to the elderly, purchasing equipment for treatment centers and providing veterans of Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Volgograd, Novgorod, Voronezh and Krasnodar regions with food packages to mark the anniversary of the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad, on ‘Elderly Person’s Day’ and on New Year’s Eve.

"Channel Five" —"Day of Good Deeds" campaign

Channel Five began the “Day of Good Deeds” campaign in February 2015. Every Thursday, from the news and entertainment program "Morning on 5” to the final news program "Now" at 22.00, presenters introduce viewers to the "hero of the day", telling the story of a child in dire need of treatment.

"Tomorrow will be too late, help now!". With this appeal journalists talk about the children whom viewers can help just by sending an SMS to the number displayed on the screen stating the amount of the donation. All the money goes directly to the accounts of charities that help in the treatment of children. Channel Five is working with major Russian charity funds, which are focused at the treatment of a variety of childhood illnesses.

The symbol of the campaign is the magic flower from the fairy tale "Tsvetik-semitsvetik." By early October, "Day of Good Deeds" has helped raise and transfer funds of more than 500 million rubles for the treatment of children.

Ferrero - “Videopassport” project

Videopassport, the information retrieval system for adoptive parents, was established in 2007 by the author and presenter of the TV program "While All the Houses" Timur Kizyakovym, Elena Kizyakovoy and Alexander Mitroshenkovym. Videopassport is one of the most effective ways to get quality information about children without parental care.

Since 2006, 3,398 videopassport have been created for children without parental care.

Since 2012, CJSC Ferrero Russia has been a regular partner of the Videopassport All-Russian information retrieval system for the adoptive parents. In April 2012, the Videopassport All-Russian Information Retrieval System for the adoptive parents began its work in the Vladimir region, where the Ferrero confectionery factory is located.

According to the results, by Oct. 1, 2015, with the financial support Ferrero Russia, there were 230 videopassports created for children in orphanages in 12 regions of Russia; 132 arranged a family for the child.

Always keeping the focus on the Vladimir region — the geography of cooperation between the Ferrero Russia company and the Videopassport information retrieval system for adoptive parents is constantly expanding.

Samsung — "Education for All" social charitable program

"Education for ALL” is targeted assistance for children and adolescents with disabilities and long-term illnesses, which require them to study from home. The program was launched in 2012 as part of the international corporate project of Samsung Electronics “Hope for Children.”

The goal of the program is the provision of technical and social opportunities for children and teenagers with disabilities to receive better education and career guidance, and to uncover their talents and abilities in spite of the restrictions that are imposed on them by their disease.

The author and developer of the program (the children’s charity "Toy Houses") offered to help these children and young people in training and socialization, providing them with the equipment necessary for education and communication. Samsung Electronics became the general partner of the program, providing financial and technical support. 1,000 children with disabilities from seven Russian regions (Moscow, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Ryazan, Samara, Volgograd, Republic of Tatarstan) received laptops and multifunctional Samsung electronics devices (printer, copier, scanner) with a set of consumables, extended warranty (3.5 years) and VIP servicing.

In 2015, 1,000 participants graduated with certificates for completing the "30 Stars" computer literacy program, 35 percent of participants have mastered computer literacy to a level of self-sufficiency, of whom one-third correspond to the level of advanced PC user (including writing their own programs, creating websites, displaying excellent command of graphics editors), and five participants older than 17 (admitted in 2012) have successfully applied to universities. In a third of families in the program the family atmosphere has changed for the better.

And the program "Education for ALL" has moved to a new format. Work with new participants takes place in designated computer classes in regional centers for the disabled.
