Kyoto Consultant in Yukos Bid

Seven companies plan to bid on the Yukos gas assets up for auction on Wednesday, after RMK Kyoto, a Gazprom-linked company, stepped forward with plans to bid, a source close to the auction said.

Leonid Maslov, a former adviser to Gazprombank, heads RMK Kyoto, a company that advises Gazprom and the government on the Kyoto Protocol.

The bid comes one day after Rosneft subsidiary NeftTradeGroup announced it would take part in the auction. Gazprom is believed to be interested in winning the lot -- which includes Yukos' 20 percent stake in Gazprom Neft and gas units ArcticGaz and Urengoil -- but is placing its bid through proxy firms due to legal concerns. The other bidders are Group Invest, Sever-Zapad Invest, Unitex, gas trader Trans-Nafta and EniNefteGaz.
