Mother's letter:

My name's Zoya.

I met my husband very early — when we were at school. After leaving school we got married. Soon our first son Ilusha was born. Our family had lots of financial problems, that is: getting education and acquiring our own apartment. That's why we had to wait before making a decision to have the second child. We were very happy to learn that we were going to have a daughter. The pregnancy was easy. However Dashs was born prematurely on the 27th week. She weighed 1kg and was 35cm tall. She was very small, thin and weak. Our daughter couldn't breathe on her own for two months. I understood that Dasha could have serious health problems and prayed to God to save her life. Fortunately, my daughter survived. But my concerns were confirmed. Her hearing ability was damaged. She got the diagnosis — profound hearing loss.

When Dasha was 1 year old she had an operation – cochlear implantation on both ears. We are really happy now that she can hear us. She's almost two, but we can't see any speech development. She can only babble and pronounce very few sounds. We live in a small town. There are no hearing specialists at all. I try to teach her myself at home but I'm not qualified enough and can't hold her attention for a long time. We went to the regional center to consult specialists, but they couldn't help us as our daughter is too young and has problems with speech understanding.

I surfed the internet looking for information about hearing professionals and got to know about the rehabilitation center "Tosha & Co" in Fryazino. I have seen so many positive feedbacks about this center and decided that my daughter also should attend the rehabilitation course. But unfortunately we can't pay for this course because of financial difficulties. My husband has a seasonal job and I'm still on my maternity leave. Our children get sick very often, so we have to spend much on their treatment.

I'm very distressed for my daughter because hearing rehabilitation is extremely important at this stage. And we are losing our time. That's why I have to ask you for financial support. Please give our daughter a chance! She needs your help so much now.

Thank you in advance. Wish you and your family health and prosperity.

Best regards, Zoya and all my family

Speech therapist's conclusion:

cochlear implantation was made in 2014. The girl selectively contacts unknown people. She is not interested in work with teachers, sometimes even protests. Dahsa can hear all sounds of speech range. Vocabulary is very poor, contacts mostly with the help of gesture language. She has good imitation ability, can repeat what he hears even if he does not recognize the meaning. General development is delayed in comparison with normal hearing level.

Recommended:
